Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid goalkeeper, has become a minority shareholder of KRC Genk, his former club. The investment is made through Nxtplay, the sports, media, and technology investment platform he co-founded. The exact amount of the investment has not been disclosed. KRC Genk joins Nxtplay's football portfolio, which already includes Le Mans FC and CD Extremadura, a Spanish club. NxtPlay will sit on the board of the Limburg club, likely represented by Gonzalo Villa, Courtois' partner who already holds this role in the two other clubs in the portfolio. This entry into the capital is part of a broader process of financial strengthening of the Racing, which could see an increase in capital of up to 60 million euros. The club had recorded a record turnover of slightly more than 100 million euros at the end of last year. At the same general meeting, several decisions were taken on the management side: Peter Croonen was confirmed as CEO, Mathieu Cilissen took over as president, and Herman Nys became vice-president. The contract of sports director Dimitri de Condé, in post since the end of 2021, was also extended until 2025.
